11 new features of MIUI 11 that you should know

Xiaomi declared MIUI eleven in the Republic of India on Oct sixteenth and shared its rollout schedule for several of its devices. It’s spectacular that Xiaomi is conveyance MIUI eleven for older devices like Redmi Note four and Redmi four. once it involves the update itself,So without further ado, let’s see the new features of MIUI 11.

All New MIUI 11 Features

Here, we have discussed all aspects of MIUI 11 from UI changes to hidden features. In addition to that, we have also offered some tips along the way so you can take advantage of the new features in your daily life. That said, let’s jump directly.

1. Minimalist Design

While there is no doubt that MIUI is packed with tons of functions, Xiaomi deserves a good deal of criticism for its inconsistent user interface and its endless variety of functions without seriously thinking about the user experience. Frankly, I love MIUI, but I can’t help but analyze the little inconsistencies: there is no uniformity in the shape of the icons, nervous animation everywhere and, in general, an obsolete design language. However, all my criticisms are going to rest with MIUI 11. Xiaomi is finally bringing a clean and minimal fork of Android with MIUI 11. From the first glance, MIUI 11 seems quite mature and follows its design principles throughout the interface.

MIUI 11 comes with a new classic theme that supports the shape of the squirrel icon outside the box and I love it. Xiaomi has also redesigned all its native applications to adapt to the new shape of the icon. Finally, applications look uniform and synchronized with the general user interface. In addition to that, the animation also feels quite smooth and consistent in all applications and configurations. It seems that MIUI is focusing on making the UI transition smooth and not just fast, which is a welcome change. Xiaomi has also brought a new source that does not seem too cartoonish. The font is compatible with Dynamic Font Scaling, which allows applications such as Notes to adjust the content so that anyone can easily read it. Not only the content, but the general user interface is dynamically scaled so you can have a better reading experience.

On top of that, the user interface has fewer lines and boxes to re-focus on the content. The Settings menu looks much cleaner and has new colorful icons to boot. Xiaomi has stated that MIUI 11 has been designed for a full-screen experience and feels that way. You will have a gift when MIUI 11 begins to be implemented worldwide starting October 22.

2. Mi Share

My Share is the next main feature of MIUI 11 that is very useful and will make sharing files between smartphones very easy. It is an AirDrop alternative on Android where you can easily share files in seconds and without any time-consuming pairing process. As of now, Xiaomi has partnered with Oppo, realme, and Vivo to facilitate this function among their smartphones. Xiaomi says it can send files locally up to 82 MBps and that is simply amazing. You can find My Share in the “Connection and sharing” menu on the Settings page. We tried to share files with Mi Share and it worked like AirDrop. The transfer speed was fast and there was no drop in the connection. Once implemented on all devices, this feature will change the game and make file sharing much easier.

NOTE: Although the function worked between two Xiaomi phones, as of now it does not work with Realme, Oppo and Vivo phones. This may be due to the fact that the phones had not received the Android 10 update at the time of the test. Once they are updated, it should start working.

3. Ambient Display Customization

In a brave move, Xiaomi brought always-on display on supported devices  (Redmi K20 series, Mi 9, etc.) last year, but with MIUI 11, they go one step further and bring many customization options for the environmental display. You have a lot of options to choose from: there are animated clocks, colorful backgrounds and, not to forget, the ability to write your own moving quote. Seriously, if you’re in AoD, this level of customization will make you love MIUI 11 without measure.

However, if you are someone who disables AoD to save battery, well, there is another way to receive notifications without burning the juice. You can enable the “Light notification” animation in the Environmental display settings. It will illuminate the corners of your screen every time you receive a notification. How amazing is that?

4. Ultra Battery Saver

MIUI has always been dedicated to offering features that are useful to the masses. While Xiaomi phones already come with a battery saver mode, MIUI 11 offers another battery saver function in addition to the normal one. Disables all background processes, resource-intensive cores to reduce performance and ultimately save battery. Only basic functions such as calls, messaging and Internet connectivity are maintained without background synchronization. Also, the wallpaper turns black and all animations are turned off.

Xiaomi says it can continue for a full day if only 5% of the battery is left with Ultra Battery Saver mode activated. So, if you go to a remote location or find yourself in a difficult situation without a power supply, this MIUI 11 function will do the day for you. You can find the ultra battery saver mode function in the Security -> Battery application.

5. Force Dark Mode

If your device is eligible for MIUI 11 based on Android 10, you can force any application to adopt the dark mode. In Stock Android, you will find the option “override the dark mode” in Developer options. However, Xiaomi brings the same function as the “Global Dark Mode” on the Display settings page. We tested this feature in MIUI 11 and it works in some applications such as Telegram and the Security application. In addition to that, you can also program the dark mode according to your preferences and that is incredible.

6. Improved File Manager

MIUI 11 is bringing a series of new changes to its native File Manager application. Now, you can search for files quickly since the application supports thumbnails for all types of formats. And on top of that, you can open PDF, DOCX or any other Office file without requiring any additional applications. For what it’s worth, the document viewer works with WPS Office, so that’s it. If you were already a fan of the Native File Manager in MIUI, this new update will make it even more attractive to use.

7. Mimoji in Camera

Previously, to use Mimoji on Xiaomi phones, I had to install a separate application. However, with MIUI 11, Mimoji has been included directly in the camera application. You can switch to the Mimoji tab at the bottom and start creating your own animated emoji. Mimoji now supports head movements, mouth detection and a certain degree of facial expression as well. It’s not as advanced as Apple Animoji, but you can surely try it for fun.

8. Tasks in Notes

With 11 new features of MIUI 11, Xiaomi brings Tasks so that your day is productive with minimal friction. Tasks is not a separate application, but it is integrated directly into the Notes application. You can write down your list of tasks in the Notes application and, at the same time, create a task with a simple swipe to the left. In addition to that, the tasks are also synchronized with My Calendar, so you will be reminded accordingly. In addition, you can also quickly create tasks with voice recording.

9. New Calculator

The renewed calculator in MIUI 11 is another feature that I love. Most of the time, we keep our financial transactions in a notes application. And every time we want to calculate something, we have to come and go to the Calculator application to enter the details. It makes the whole experience demanding and there is the possibility of incorrect data entry. So, to solve this problem, Xiaomi has brought a floating calculator with MIUI 11. You can be on any page and bring the floating calculator to calculate the sum effortlessly. That is really useful and saves a lot of time. In addition to that, you can also determine a person’s age, calculate EMI, split bills with their friends, evaluate GST and more. All in all, the new Calculator application is a fantastic utility in MIUI 11 and you will surely love it.

10. Dynamic Video Wallpapers

Dynamic Video Wallpaper is something unique but also ingenious. However, with MIUI 11, you can configure a personal video as a home screen and lock screen. Each time you unlock your device, the video will play in the background just like live wallpapers. You can also enable the sound, but that would be an exaggeration. However, you can set up dynamic video wallpapers directly from the Gallery application.

11. Track Activities

As we carry our phones all the time, they are one of the best devices to track our activities. MIUI 11 brings a step counter built into all Xiaomi devices. It works very similar to the Google Fit application and offers a step tracker directly in the Application Vault for easy access. MIUI 11 uses the accelerometer on your device and the walking pattern to determine your step count. It may not be the most accurate step tracker, but it gives you a rough idea about your walk. Apart from that, for the users, MIUI 11 brings a tracker of the menstruation cycle within the Calendar application. You can track your menstrual cycle effortlessly and find some useful tips for better health.
